Labuan Work Permit Renewal
Labuan work permit renewal is required every 2 years. Renewal is required to submit an application form 3 months prior to the expiration date. Directors who want to renew their work permit should prepare various documents.

1. Preparation of required documents
Kindly prepare the following documents for the renewal procedure of Labuan work permit: –

01. Four (4) copies of passport size photos with BLUE COLOUR background * 4
Kindly prepare a passport-sized identification photo. The background must be BLUE only. |
02. Certified True Copies of latest passport book by the Embassy of your country / Notary Public * 1
You will need a copy of all pages, including cover, spine, and blank pages, to copy your passport. ※ The validity period of the passport must remain for 2 years or more at the time of application. In the case of 2 years or less, as work will only be permitted within the expiration date, immigration procedures will have to be carried out again in a short time. ※ Kindly note that you will not be able to enter Malaysia if there is no “Passport Expiration Date 6 months + days to stay”. |

07. Acknowledgement of the Form BE submission (Personal Tax Return) for year ended
n Malaysia, a person who stayed in Malaysia for 182 days or more a year is defined as a “Tax resident”, and a person less than 182 days is defined as a “Non tax resident”. Since Form BE is a document filed by tax resident, those who have obtained work permit but who are not a tax resident should, in principle, think that renewal is extremely difficult. |
08. Latest 3 months salary slips
It is a pay schedule for the last 3 months. Kindly obtain it issued from the company you are working for. At that time, kindly stamp the name of the company and receive the signature of the director. If you are operating your own corporation, you can issue it to yourself. |
09. Certified true copy of latest 3 months personal bank account statements (must be certified copy by the issued bank)
It is a document to prove that you are receiving a monthly salary from Labuan company based on employment letter. The certificate of balance for the last 3 months of the bank account used as a payroll account is required. Kindly go to the bank counter and obtain the banker’s certification. |
10. Certified true copy of latest 3 months Company bank account statement (must be certified copy by the issued bank) – this act as the evidence of company is actively doing business
It is a document for conducting business transactions at Labuan company and proving the fact that the company is active status. The balance certificate for the last 3 months of the bank account used as a corporate transaction account is required. Kindly go to the bank counter and obtain the banker’s certification. |

12. Evidence of Active Company Status (e.g to provide company invoices, business contract and agreement, or correspondences with clients, etc)
Similar to 10., it is a document for conducting business transactions at Labuan company and proving the fact that the company is in operation. Kindly prepare invoices, sales contracts and business consignment contracts issued to your business partners (all must be in English, please translate if you are in other languages). |
13. Personal Resume
The English resume should contain the following information:- 1: name, 2: address, 3: birth date, 4: contact information etc., 5: educational background, 6: employment history, 7: job description, 8: possession qualification |
Please keep the required documents temporarily and courier to us along with 3. Application documents (described later).
2. Payment of professional charges

3. Signing application documents
In order to apply for the renewal Labuan work permit to the director (yourself), an employment agreement with Labuan company is required. Please be sure to set the amount of director salary as a payroll income of 10,000 RM or more per month.
In addition, we will prepare application documents such as employment letter.

4. Renewal approval from Labuan Immigration
Renewal approval of Labuan work permit should be approximately 3 weeks to 1 month from application to approval. After approved, the applicant (director and family member) needs to visit to the Labuan Immigration in order to issue visa for passport.
5. Access to Labuan
Access to Labuan is operated daily by Malaysia Airlines and AirAsia from Kuala Lumpur (Capital city – West Malaysia), and the flight time to Labuan is approximately 2 hours and 20 minutes. Also MAS Wings operates daily from East Malaysia, the flight time is approximately 30 minutes from Kota Kinabalu (Sabah – East Malaysia), and approximately 40 minutes from Miri (Sarawak – East Malaysia).

In addition, you also need to come to the renewal procedure to Labuan Immigration at the time of renewal procedure.
6. Work permit issuance procedure at Labuan immigration
Payment of RM725 (MALAYSIA PASS: 725RM) is required as issuance fee at Labuan Immigration to receive issuance of work permit. Payment can be made only by cash, kindly note that you cannot pay by credit card or check.
Labuan Immigration is in the process of issuing only from Tuesday to Thursday. Kindly let us know your preferred dates and times when your approval is received, we will make a schedule reservation. Our staff will accompany you on the day to assist with the process.
